UoR Malaysia COO to take on new role at SOAS

Paula Sanderson, Chief Operating Officer and Registrar at the University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) will be leaving in November to join the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) as its Registrar.
She joined UoRM in 2015 and has been responsible for the development and leadership of all non-academic functions, in particular managing a period of significant growth and complexity as the institution transitioned to a new campus.
UoRM Provost Tony Downes congratulated Paula on her new role and thanked her for the exceptional contribution to the operations in Malaysia.
He said: “Paula’s leadership, expertise and sheer hard work have helped us build a team of professional support staff and develop a strong externally-facing presence. Her new role as Registrar at SOAS is a great opportunity for her and will allow her to return back in the UK, closer to her family.”
Paula Sanderson said it had been a privilege to be part of the formation of the formation of the University of Reading Malaysia.
She said: “Few people get to establish a new institution and it is a period of my career that I will look back on with great positivity and fondness. I will miss the warmth and commitment of the team and wish UoRM every continued success.”
Work is starting towards replacing Paula’s roles immediately, and the recruitment process to appoint a new CEO for UoRM will begin in September.
