School of Architecture awarded industry-recognised status

The School of Architecture will welcome its first students in September 2016.
'The prescription by ARB for our degree course in Architecture is an important step for the School, demonstrating confidence in our new curriculum by the architects' profession to address the expectations of an architectural education.'
Students taking BSc Architecture will now reap the additional benefit of earning a degree prescribed by the Architects Registration Board (ARB).
The ARB is an independent UK body established to regulate the architecture profession and ensure that high standards are maintained in both practice and education for the benefit of the public and architects alike.
They are responsible for prescribing and recognising the qualifications needed to become an architect, which includes maintaining the UK Register of Architects and ensuring that architects meet the standards for conduct and practice. Complaints raised about an architect’s conduct or competence will be investigated by the ARB.
For our newly-formed School of Architecture, the award of the ARB prescription reinforces the School’s growing relationship between professional qualifications and the architecture industry. Architecture students will benefit from earning a degree with industry-backed credentials– a flying start for graduates taking their first steps into the architecture profession.

The School of Architecture will welcome its first cohort of students in September 2016. It is currently situated in the Old Library at our historic London Road campus.
