Reminder: Chancellors Way closed until Friday 16 September 2016
Wednesday, 24 August 2016
Colleagues are reminded that Chancellors Way will remain closed until Friday 16 September, subject to the competition of constructions works.
Chancellors Way closed earlier this year in order to facilitate the construction of the new Chancellors Building and reconstruction of the roadway.
The entire length of Chancellors Way has been closed from the junction at Queen’s Drive (next to the Russell Building) all the way through to Shinfield Road. The public footpath running along Chancellors Way has also been closed and is currently re-routed via Queens Drive.
We’re pleased to report that as the project is currently performing to schedule, we anticipate that the road will reopen from Monday 19 September. Please bear in mind that this may be subject to change, depending on the final phases of work.
Temporary bus stop at Queen’s Drive
Buses are being diverted from Chancellors Way to Queens Drive. A temporary bus stop is situated opposite Whiteknights House for buses travelling towards Reading (Claret 21 and 21a services).
Until chancellors Way reopens, buses will not serve the Chancellors Way and Chancellors Way (Shinfield Road) bus stops. The route has been amended so that buses stop at the temporary bus stop at Queen’s Drive instead.
Services running towards Lower Earley will not be affected.
Reading Buses have released a service update for Chancellors Way on their website.
We will update you all when the road reopens and services resume to normal. In the meantime, please accept our apologies for any inconvenience caused.
Please contact Peter Edington (extension 7619) if you have any queries.
