Professor Ryuta Kawashima to host brain training workshop for university colleagues

Do you feel like your mind needs to recharge ahead of the autumn term?  

If so, the School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences will be hosting a very special workshop for university colleagues on Tuesday 13 September 2016. 

In ‘The Effects of Brain Training: Facts and Debates’ Professor Ryuta Kawashima from Tohoku University, Japan, will be joined by colleagues from Reading, King’s College and Sheffield to discuss the positive effects of brain training.  

As well as teaching at Tohoku University (one of the top 50 universities in the world), neuroscientist Professor Kawashima has become a household name following the hugely popular Brain Training/Brain Age video game series for the Nintendo DS and Nintendo 3DS.

During the workshop speakers will explore the latest evidence for brain training, followed by a Q&A session and buffet lunch. Although the session is open for all University colleagues, it is primarily aimed at researchers with interests in areas spanning ageing, exercise, cognition, education and neurorehabilitation. The aim is to stimulate discussion and debate, and to identify future opportunities for collaboration between researchers. 

The workshop will be held on Tuesday 13 September 2016 in MET GU01 Lecture Theatre, Whiteknights campus and will commence at 10:00am.
