Progress update on Student Support Centres
Thursday, 01 September 2016
The University announced plans this year to open three main student support centres in the HUMSS, JJ Thomson and Agriculture Buildings and two ‘satellite’ centres at Foxhill House and London Road.
The two smaller centres are currently on schedule to open for students in September 2016.
Work on the three main centres is progressing well and the construction work is expected to be finished for all three from late November onwards.
Following consultation with RUSU, the Staff Forum, UCU and Schools, all three main centres will now open for full operation at the start of the 2017-18 academic year.
This means that support centre staff will remain based in and around Schools for the full 2016-17 academic year, with centre managers located with the broader Student and Applicant Services (SAS) team in Carrington Building.
Support centre staff will move into the three main support centres at the end of the summer term 2017, rather than the end of spring term as planned.
This will keep the phased transition orderly and smooth; maintain a high quality service; and minimise the impact during the Easter holidays and summer term.
