NME and the University of Reading unite for Reading Festival 2016
Thursday, 08 September 2016
NME teamed up with the University of Reading and gave 12 of our students the chance to report live for NME and NME.com. Our exceptional team of students consisted of aspiring writers, photographers and filmmakers from the University of Reading and Henley Business School.
Karen Smalley, Head of Brand & Campaigns, said: “Giving our students the chance to work with NME gives them a unique opportunity to learn from the best and stand out from the crowd.
“The University has always attracted students who dare to be different, who don’t follow the crowd and are proud to stand up and stand out. This is what makes our students the perfect fit for Reading Festival and this ground-breaking partnership with NME.”
This Friday the partnership with NME reaches its final crescendo with a headline slot in the iconic music magazine. We’re proud to present ‘LEGENDS The Story of Reading Festival 2016’, a special supplement jointly created by the NME editorial team, our students and colleagues from our Marketing teams.
The supplement will be published alongside this week’s issue of NME– and with an average weekly circulation of 300,000 and our October Open Days on the horizon, we hope it helps further illustrate exactly why Reading stands out from the rest.
Mike Williams, NME Editor-In-Chief, adds: “It was great working with such talented and passionate students as they take their first steps into the creative industries.
“The NME team have been working closely with the University of Reading team to equip these aspiring young journalists, photographers, videographers and designers with the skills to create great content that really resonates with a 2016 audience. Creating these opportunities for the next generation of creatives is really important to us, and we can’t wait to give these students their first big break.”
Copies of the LEGENDS supplement will be available to pick up in many University buildings across campus from Friday 9 September.
