Reminder: UROP invites applications for research projects
Thursday, 27 October 2016
The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) is now inviting applications from academic departments and directorates for research projects involving undergraduates.
UROP provides undergraduates with an opportunity to gain experience of research through a paid six-week project during the summer vacation. Staff gain a fresh perspective on their research and the opportunity to develop a promising candidate for postgraduate research.
Now in its twelfth year, UROP has supported over 475 undergraduate research projects since 2006. Staff applying to be a Principal Investigator (PI) on a UROP project should be a permanent staff member or a member of staff on a fixed term contract that runs until after Nov 2017. PDRAs can apply as a PI (with their supervisor as a Co-I) and PhD students may co-supervise projects only.
Members of staff interested in finding out more can attend the UG Research Showcase event where students from summer 2016 will present their research in Henley Business School, Whiteknights on Wednesday 9 November from 4.30pm.
There will be an information session run over lunch on Wednesday 2 November for those staff who are new to the University, new to UROP, or would like to find out more about the scheme. Bookings should be made through the Employee Self-Service Learning web pages. Alternatively, individual members of staff can contact urop@reading.ac.uk for advice on applications or information on the scheme in general.
The deadline for applications is Monday 19 December 2016 at 5.00pm. For more information on UROP please visit www.reading.ac.uk/urop.
