Reminder: Public consultation to save ReadyBike ends 30 September

If you’re a regular user of the ReadyBike scheme and want to share your views on the prospect of its suspension in 2017, don’t forget that to take part in the online public consultation running until Friday 30 September.  

Reading Borough Council are proposing to no longer subsidise ReadyBike from 14 June 2017 following significant budget cuts. While they are exploring all options to keep the scheme running, it means that the current system may close from next summer.  

ReadyBike provides staff and students with a convenient way to cycle around Reading without having to own or store a bicycle. The stations on campus have proved to be very popular since the scheme first launched in June 2014- the station at Christchurch Green (near the Sportspark) is the 2nd busiest docking station in Reading, while the station behind the Library is the 4th busiest (out of the 29 docking stations located across Reading). 

A total of 3773 journeys have been made from Whiteknights campus and 4371 have been made from Christchurch Green. Popular journeys around campus include Christchurch Green to Earley Gate (575 journeys), Reading Station South to London Road Campus (628 journeys) and Reading Station South to Whiteknights campus (529 journeys).
