Grades 1-5 Employee Representatives needed for Staff Forum
Monday, 03 October 2016
If you’re keen to discuss matters relating to the University as a workplace, the Staff Forum could be just the right place to share your views.
Nominations are now open for colleagues on Grades 1–5 to join the Staff forum. You can nominate yourself or a fellow colleagues (as long as you have obtained permission to do so on their behalf).
Now running for over two years, the Staff Forum provides colleagues on Grades 1–5 with an opportunity to discuss matters affecting our working experience, with discussions helping to influence decisions made by the University.
Staff Forum (employee representatives) bring ideas, questions and concerns to termly meetings, and take an active role in finding solutions. The Forum comments on University proposals and provides information and consultation on matters that may affect colleagues on Grades 1–5.
Employee representatives meet together once or twice a term to discuss ideas and items that colleagues have brought to the Forum. New members will receive relevant training and can also make use of a “buddy” system to help ease into the group. Representatives typically serve for two or three years, but can step down if necessary.
The Staff Forum values diversity and welcomes expressions of interest from colleagues from all backgrounds, roles, contract types and locations. They are particularly keen to appoint representatives from all of our campuses, including Whiteknights, London Road and Greenlands.
If you are interested in becoming a Staff Forum employee representative please email Staff Forum for a nomination form. Nominations must be received by 5:00pm on Friday 14 October 2016.
As part of your nomination, please confirm which School/Function/Department you work in and include a short statement (no more than one side of A4) stating why you (or the person you are nominating) would be a suitable representative.
If more nominations are received than there are vacancies, elections will be arranged and appointments will be made before the start of the spring term.
If you have any queries please email the Staff Forum or call 0118 378 5796 (extension 5796).
