University of Reading proudly celebrates humanities in Being Human 2016
Thursday, 17 November 2016
The University of Reading is delighted to be part of Being Human 2016, the UK’s only festival of the humanities.
The festival highlights the ways in which the humanities can inspire and enrich our everyday lives, help us to understand ourselves, our relationships with others, and the challenges we face in a changing world.
This year's festival has an overarching theme of 'hope and fear' and our events are drawn together under the banner of 'hope, fear and freedom'.
The festival runs Thursday 17 – Tuesday 29 November, with various locations around our campus sites hosting special lectures, panel discussions, exhibitions and much more. Festivities begin at Reading later today with ‘Contested countryside. Space and power in rural England’ at the recently relaunched Museum of English Rural Life.
See our events listing page for activities taking place at the University and booking details. For the full schedule of national events, visit the Being Human 2016 programme.
Please note that regretfully, the ‘Looking at Punk’ event scheduled for Saturday 19 November has been cancelled.
