Staff Survey information pages launched
Monday, 27 February 2017
On 6 March, colleagues will be invited to participate in our first staff survey in nearly six years.
We have launched today a new section on the University’s website, providing more details on the survey – including some frequently asked questions.
The 2017 Staff Survey is an opportunity to shape the University over the next decade as we head to our centenary year in 2026.
We want the University to be an exciting and rewarding place to work – which creates opportunities for professional growth; offers an inclusive and supportive environment; and, offers leadership that is accountable and is strategic in its thinking.
Your participation will help us understand how we are doing now, so that we can continue building on our strengths and address areas which need improving.
To ensure that your responses are completely anonymous, we have engaged an external provider to manage the survey. Capita Surveys and Research has experience of managing staff surveys in the higher education sector, and understands the need for confidentiality.
We want you to be open and honest in your responses. The University leadership – the University Executive Board, Heads of School, Heads of Department, Heads of Service and Heads of Function – is listening and will act on your feedback, and do so transparently.
The findings of the survey will be shared with all of you, as will a University-level action plan to respond to the key issues raised in the survey. We also expect Schools and Functions to develop their action plans to address local issues.
The 2017 survey is not a one-off survey. We will run a targeted follow-up survey in 2018 to measure progress, with a second detailed and full staff survey in 2019. So, colleagues will have further opportunities to tell us how we have performed on addressing the issues they raised.
We will be sharing more information with you in the coming days, including how to get involved and how to complete the survey.
