Supporting our LGBT community at the University of Reading
Wednesday, 03 May 2017
Over the coming weeks we will be holding several special events and training programmes that focus on the unique challenges and experiences faced by the LGBT community:
Wolfenden Lecture and seminar Thursday 4 May
The inaugural Wolfenden Lecture will be held on Thursday 4 May in the Van Emden Lecture Theatre, Edith Morley (formerly HumSS), Whiteknights campus. Doors open 6.30 pm. The lecture will explore the theme of LGBT equality and will be hosted by Ruth Hunt, Chief Executive of Stonewall.
A special seminar will take place earlier in the day – in Before and after Wolfenden: LGBTQ+ history and Reading, researchers from the University and Support U will discuss defining moments in LGBT+ history and its connection with Reading. The seminar takes place at Henley Business School, G15, 4pm.
Stonewall LGBT Role Models Programme 2017
The Stonewall one-day LGBT Role Models programme explores what it means to be an LGBT role model and how they can create an inclusive environment for everyone.
Up to 8 places can be centrally funded by the University over the next 12 months, with the request that the School or Service covers the cost of travel to the event for the participants. Contact Yasmin Ahmed for full details.
