Rainbow flag ceremony to mark IDAHOBiT on Wednesday 17 May
Tuesday, 16 May 2017
At the University of Reading, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every one of our staff and students feel that they can be their true, authentic self and can achieve their full potential.
To mark International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (IDAHOBiT) on Wednesday 17 May, a rainbow flag will be raised on Whiteknights campus.
The special flag raising ceremony will be proceeded by Vice-Chancellor and Stonewall Ally Sir David Bell, and will include speeches from our LGBT + Network and RUSU's LGBT+ and Diversity Officers.
Staff and students are invited to gather at the flagpole between Whiteknights House and the Library at 1.00 pm.
IDAHOBiT is marked every year on 17 May and aims to raise awareness of issues around homophobia, transphobia and biphobia.
It is a day that is marked by organisations around the world to promote freedom, tolerance, respect, diversity and acceptance regardless of people’s sexual orientation or gender identity.
