University Council election: voting now open

Tuesday, 06 June 2017

University Council elections

Voting is now open for the election of one member of staff (Grade 6–9) to Class 5 of the University Council.

All members of Grade 6 - 9 staff are eligible to vote (one vote per member of staff). Candidates and their manifestos are available on the Election Portal, which requires a University username and password.

Votes can be cast through the Election Portal – voting closes 5.00 pm, Monday 19 June.

The successful candidate will become a member of the University Council from Tuesday 1 August 2017. As the University's executive governing body, the Council is formed of several classes that represent key groups within the University. It meets at least four times per academic year and sets the University's strategic direction, ensuring that statutory compliance requirements are met and approving constitutional changes where required.

The Council is ultimately responsible for managing the University's estate, finance and staff, with much of the detailed work falling to sub-committees. A broad representation of lay members, drawn from commercial, community and professional organisations, provide the Council with a valuable perspective.
