IMAGINE week: Volunteering is thriving

Volunteers for Imagine

Volunteering is a vital element of the IMAGINE campaign; we set ourselves an ambitious target of 60,000 hours by 2020. The response from our alumni has been phenomenal and our supporters are volunteering on a global scale.

International Alumni Associations run by committees of volunteers, who are dedicated to fostering a welcoming community and profile-raising have long been a feature of Henley Business School’s engagement programme.

Now the wider University is receiving similar assistance, from Beijing to New York to London, we are supported by proud and committed ambassadors of the University. 

For example, our international alumni assisted in recruiting prospective students from their region by volunteering at recruitment stands throughout the world.  Most recently, our stands were supported by alumni volunteers in Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and Japan. 

Volunteers provide support to students as career mentors through the Thrive mentoring scheme; the award-winning programme matches students with mentors, who give their time to help students to clarify their career goals and prepare them for the workplace. This runs alongside the long running RREF Mentoring Programme and the newly created Henley Mentoring programme for MBA students which continues to grow from strength to strength. 

Volunteers are passionate about contributing to the continued success of the University giving back through their time, with pride and commitment. Through the IMAGINE campaign we hope to broaden our volunteer offering.

IMAGINE

IMAGINE is the University of Reading's first Fundraising and Volunteering Campaign. The support received through the IMAGINE campaign is making an impact on special projects and our areas of internationally recognised research, stretching from our student support programmes to our work in Mental Health, Climate Change, Nutrition & Health and Business. IMAGINE will enable the generosity of our supporters to achieve the greatest impact through the work of the University.
