Hot weather: take care and cool down

Monday, 19 June 2017

Heat warning June 2017

It's hot on campus, so be sure to stay cool!

The Met Office have today issued an amber Heatwave Action alert as high temperatures continue to soar across the UK.

The Met Office currently predict a 90 % probability of heatwave conditions between now and Thursday in parts of England, including the south East.

The hot and humid conditions of recent days are likely to continue across southern England through the first half of the week, with temperatures expected to cool by Thursday.

The Met Office advise to stay out of the sun where possible. Keep home and workspaces as cool as you can, and drink plenty of fluids throughout the day.

If there's anybody you know, for example an older person living on their own, who might be at special risk, make sure they know what to do.

Advice on how to reduce the risk either for yourself or somebody you know can be obtained from NHS Choices at www.nhs.uk/summerhealth, NHS 111 or from your local chemist.

Further information is available at the Met Office Heat Health Watch page.
