Thursday, 29 June 2017
Andrea Cheshire will be leaving the University in August 2017 after four successful years as the Director of Student and Applicant Services.
She joined Reading in 2013 to lead what was then called Student Learning and Teaching Services. In the years since, she has brought about many changes regarding how the University engages with the student community.
“It has been an incredible privilege and honour to lead the Student and Applicant Services team,” she said. “We have achieved a lot together and I am proud that we have been able to make a difference to students and the direction of the University.”
Gavin Brooks, Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Teaching & Learning), said, “I am extremely grateful for all the work that Andrea has done during her time at the University. She has contributed significantly to transforming the student experience at the University, and she has built a strong team around her.”
"I wish her well in her new career, and am sure she'll approach it with the same energy and dedication that made her successful here."
Andrea's career has included 14 years in UK Higher Education working at Oxford Brookes University and the University of the West of England in roles such as Director of Planning and Business Intelligence and Academic Registrar.
Prior to moving to the UK, Andrea worked as a consultant for top management consultancy firm McKinsey & Company for seven years and as a consultant for a multinational construction company in Germany for four years. She holds a Master’s Degree in Business and Economics from Hohenheim University in Stuttgart and has studied as a scholarship student on the MBA programme at the University of California Los Angeles.
Her last day at the University will be Thursday 31 August.
The University will advertise for Andrea’s replacement soon. Handover and interim management arrangements will be announced in due course.
