Reading University Alumni & Staff Cricket Club seeking new members
Tuesday, 04 July 2017
Do you play cricket? Reading University Alumni & Staff Cricket Club (RUASCC) is on the lookout for new members – come and join our friendly and flexible cricket club today!
Steeped in local history, the club was formed in 1957 and has recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. RUASCC continue to play many long-standing fixtures against cricket clubs in the surrounding area, including Oxford University Club and BBC Caversham.
The club is open to all University staff and members of our alumni community. Players of all abilities are welcome to join – although it is worth noting that games are competitive, and so some prior experience would be preferable.
Match equipment can be supplied by the club, and members are welcome to bring their own if they wish. Members are expected however to provide their own cricket whites.
The club is friendly and flexible – by joining, you are not committing yourself to a fixed game schedule or required to play a certain quota of matches. Instead, members can nominate the games they would like to take part in, to fit around their daily schedules and academic timetables.
Membership to the club is free, but there is a match fee of £8 waged and £5 unwaged per game.
Club organiser Andy Eagle said:
“All players will be given an opportunity to participate and we value every contribution, both on and off the pitch.”
There are still many games to play between now and the end of the 2017 fixture season – a list of 2017 fixtures is available to download (Word, 70KB).
