Malaysia flag flown to mark UoRM graduation ceremonies
Friday, 21 July 2017
Staff and students at the University of Reading Malaysia (UoRM) are preparing for the very first graduation ceremony to be held on campus on Saturday 22 July.
To mark this very special occasion, Whiteknights campus will fly the Malaysian flag over the course of the weekend.
UoRM was inaugurated last February and is our first multi-disciplinary overseas campus. Located in EduCity, Iskandar, it teaches foundation and undergraduate courses in business, finance, sciences, real estate and quantity surveying, including Henley Business School’s MBA programme.
All students are guaranteed the option to study from a term up to one year of their degree in Reading, while UK-based students can transfer to study in Malaysia.
Much has happened on campus since the campus was inaugurated last February:
- Student numbers have doubled and application numbers have trebled in this time.
- Eight new accredited programmes have been added, including PhD Psychology, PhD Law and BSc Accounting and Finance.
- UoRM’s first doctorate student, Eleanor Luckcock, started her PhD Psychology.
- The first Reading University Malaysia Students’ Association (RUMSA) President and Executive Team were elected.
- Several successful intervarsity events have been held, including a Halloween event featuring a haunted house and a 3v3 Open Floorball tournament at the Educity Sports Complex.
Keep an eye on our social media channels this weekend for highlights of the graduation ceremony. The ceremony will be broadcast live on YouTube (1.50 pm Malaysia standard time / 6.50 am British standard time).
Please join us in congratulating our UoRM students on graduating – we wish you all the very best of luck!
