Study Smart introduces key study principles to new Reading students
Tuesday, 29 August 2017
Study Smart, a new online course helping new Reading students prepare for higher education, has launched today (Tuesday 29 August).
Study Smart is designed to help new students transition into university-level learning, and has been created by our Study Advice team. Its purpose is to introduce new students to the principles and expectations of studying at university through the words of our students and staff. It focuses on three key areas: academic integrity, communicating at university and independent learning.
Through Study smart, we hope to provide new students with a shared starting point and an introduction to the academic community here at Reading.
New Part 1 students coming to study at Reading will receive an email invitation to the course. They will be encouraged to complete the course before they arrive, but will be able to complete it during Welcome Week and the first few weeks of term. The course will remain available for students to revisit and refer to during their entire first year.
There will be further promotion of Study Smart during Welcome Week and we appreciate your help in emphasising the value to students of completing this course.
Watch the Study Smart trailer to find out more, and take a look at our Study Smart Tutors’ Guide for information on the course structure and content.
