Reminder: Welcome Week events and parking, 18-22 September
Friday, 15 September 2017
Don’t forget that it’s Welcome Week from 18-22 September – from this weekend onwards, hundreds of new and returning students will arrive on campus before the autumn term begins.
Welcome Week events
There will be a huge range of events and activities taking place on campus this month to welcome new students to the University.
These include a formal welcome by the Vice-Chancellor and RUSU, programme inductions, campus tours and an example lecture, as well as a fun photo booth, sports and societies fairs, and a British Sports Day. Please see the Welcome Week guide for full event details.
Starting university can be daunting, so if you see anyone looking lost or confused please do try to help direct them. Support staff will be on hand to assist throughout the week at the Support Centre Information Point in the Palmer building.
Campus parking over Welcome Week
Several parking areas around campus will be reserved for Welcome Week activity over the coming week or so:
- Car Park 4 is closed until Monday 25 September to enable the set-up of a large marquee for Welcome Week events. It will close again from 5pm on Thursday 28 September for set-up of the funfair for the Freshers’ Ball, and will reopen fully for the University Open Day on Saturday 30 September.
- Car Park 3 will close on Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 September for Freshers' Fayre exhibitor parking. Spaces will also be reserved on Tuesday 19 September for the Volunteering Fayre taking place that day.
We appreciate this is a very busy time for the University, and will reopen parking areas as quickly as possible.
We request that staff do not park in the Nursery Car Park during the times above, as it makes it very difficult for parents dropping off children.
We apologise for any inconvenience.
