Apply for StellarHE programme
Wednesday, 04 October 2017
The University is sponsoring two places on this year’s StellarHE national development programme and would like to invite Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic staff to apply for these places.
StellarHE is a strategic executive development programme for Diverse Leaders (Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic – BAME) in higher education.
The programme is targeted at BAME individuals – in academic, research and professional support roles – who aspire to senior leadership positions. A readiness to embark on an experiential leadership programme and availability to participate in all activities are key criteria for participation in the programme.
Detailed information on the StellarHE programme is here.
To be considered for a place on the programme, you need to complete an application form and email it to Susan Thornton no later than 5 pm on 3 November 2017.
Your manager will need to support the application and fully understand your involvement; active engagement is a critical element of the StellarHE programme.
For example, managers need to support participants in identifying their Leadership Challenge and sharing their learning in the workplace on completion of the formal modules of the training. They will also be invited to attend the Leadership Challenge presentations on the final day.
Candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application by 13 November 2017.
The dates for StellarHE 2018 programme are listed below and successful applicants must be able to attend all the dates:
- 5 December 2017 – Orientation
- 18-19 January 2018 – Module 1
- 22-23 February 2018 – Module 2
- 3-4 May 2018 – Module 3
Please note that some dates are residential and the cost of these is included but Heads of School or Function will need to pay for any additional costs, including travel.
The programme also includes some pre-course work, such as reading articles, written assignments, and a Leadership Challenge project. The pre-course work typically requires about 2 hours before each workshop.
StellarHE is recognised by the Institute of Leadership and Management and is supported by HEFCE. University College London, Kingston University and The University of Manchester are the lead Institutions.
