Can you help shape the University's working experience?
Friday, 06 October 2017
The University is embarking on an important programme of work to enhance the working experience of our colleagues.
Led by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Steve Mithen, it sets out a challenging body of work, incorporating the themes that emerged in the focus groups that followed the 2017 Staff Survey.
The programme focuses on four key areas of activity or work streams, which are:
- Our Employer Brand
- Our Employment Experience
- Our Development Offer
- A Resilient Workforce
We are keen that the programme delivers the best outcomes for our community, overseen by a Project Board that reflects its diversity.
Six places on the Board are reserved for colleagues from across the University – three from academic roles and three from professional services.
Anyone can apply for these places. All you need to do is complete a short form by Friday 20 October 2017.
You will also need to check whether you are able to attend the first two Project Board meetings on Friday 3 November 2017 (1-3 pm) and Tuesday 5 December 2017 (1-3 pm).
As a Board member, you will work alongside Steve Mithen (as Chair of the Board) and:
Orla Kennedy (Teaching & Learning Dean)
Phil Newton (Research Dean)
Ellie Highwood (Dean for Diversity & Inclusion)
John Brady (Director of Human Resources)
Fiona Blair (Director, Marketing & Communications)
Claire Rolstone (Assistant Director of Human Resources)
Alison Hackett (Assistant Director of Human Resources)
The first Board meeting in November will establish the leads for each work stream. The leads will be tasked with establishing their own work groups – which can extend beyond the membership of the Board – and identify, scope and plan their sub-projects. Each work group will be supported by a Project Manager.
The second meeting will consider these plans, their timeframes and resource requirements and identify overall priorities for the programme.
The University Executive Board is totally committed to this programme and will receive an update from the Project Board on a termly basis.
