Transgender Day of Remembrance flag-raising ceremony, 1.00 pm
Monday, 20 November 2017
Please come and join us at 1.00 pm for a flag-raising ceremony in honour of Transgender Day of Remembrance, a day to celebrate our trans staff and students and to remember those affected by violence and homophobia.
Flag-raising ceremony and speeches
Monday 20 November, 1.00pm - 1.40pm, flagpole between Whiteknights House and the Library.
Please gather at the flagpole between Whiteknights House and the Library as we fly a rainbow flag in honour of our trans and LGBT community. The ceremony will be hosted by Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell, RUSU and the LGBT Plus staff network, with guest speaker Alyssa Henley, the Trans* Liaison Officer at Support U, the Reading-based resource service for LGBT+ people and issues. All are welcome.
Trans awareness training with Rosemary Taylor
Wednesday 22 November, 2.00pm - 4.00pm, Palmer 106, Whiteknights (and repeated 21 February).
We will once again be holding a special training session ideal for public-facing members of the University community, including student representatives, academic teaching staff and customer services operatives. The session is led by former student Rosemary Taylor, and all staff and students are welcome to attend.
Staff can book via the Employee Self Service, and students can book by contacting Sinead O'Flynn.
We look forward to seeing our students and staff joining together in support of the local and international LGBT+ community.
