University Endowment Fund invites applications
Friday, 24 November 2017
The University’s Endowment Fund supports staff and students running departmental, school or function events involving the public or external stakeholders. Funds up to £1,000 per event are awarded by the vice-Chancellor following a bidding process.
Many events have been supported through successful bids; the fund has been particularly helpful where school or function funding may be limited or unavailable.
Recent events supported by the fund include:
- Thames Valley Clinical Trials Unit Launch, a collaboration bringing together the University of Reading, the Royal Berkshire NHS Foundation Trust and the Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation.
- Postmodernist Biofiction Conference, including keynote speakers David Lodge, Susan Sellers and Maggie Gee and a student panel of Part 3 students.
- All of a Twist, a public exhibition exploring the science and technology of things that twist and turn in, on, above and beside Reading’s rivers.
- “Germans in Britain”, the Migration Museum Project’s travelling exhibition about German immigrants throughout British history.
- Pharmacy PhD Showcase, a joint venture between Henley Business School and Pharmacy promoting research to an external audience.
- Philosophy in the Real World, an event showing how philosophy matters in many life scenarios. This was open to students, staff, alumni and others.
The fund is inviting applications for events taking place before the start of Summer Term 2018. You can bid for up to £1,000 by completing this short form explaining the objectives, focus and benefits of your event, and emailing it to vc@reading.ac.uk.
The closing date for applications is Friday 5 January 2018. We will aim to notify applicants of their success by Friday 12 January 2018.
Approved funding will be allocated directly to the department, school, or function budget. A short post-event evaluation will be required.
Please contact Sinead O’Flynn if you have any queries.
