Susan Breau appointed Head of School of Law for second term

Professor Susan Breau has been appointed Head of the School of Law for a second term.
She started in this role in 2014 and will begin her second term on 1 August 2018. The second term is for six years.
Under Susan's leadership, the School has developed an innovative research-led curriculum for both undergraduate and postgraduate students. It also has nation-leading career and pro bono programmes which have resulted in the School of Law being ranked 7th in the country for employability.
Since September 2017, the School has welcomed its collaboration with the University of Law which offers on campus graduate courses designed to prepare students for legal practice.
The School has also been very successful in its research funding applications and impact based research projects.
Professor Robert Van de Noort, Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Planning and Resource said: "Susan has very ably led the School in recent years. Apart from being rated highly for its employability, the School has also realised its vision of being a global law school with several successful international partnerships".

Susan joined what was then the Reading Law School in 2013 as a Professor of Law.
She has a PhD from the London School of Economics, and has previously worked as a lecturer in international law at Queen's University Belfast, the Dorset Fellow in International Law at the British Institute of International and Comparative Law, Reader in International Law at the University of Surrey and Professor of International Law at Flinders University, Adelaide Australia.
Prior to becoming an academic Susan Breau operated a sole legal practice in Canada.
