Ben Pedley Award to honour outstanding contributions to music

This month, we proudly announce the launch the Ben Pedley Award for outstanding contribution to our musical community.
The award is presented in memory of second year undergraduate student Ben Pedley.
Nominations for the inaugural award are now open. This award is open to all second year undergraduate students who regularly take part in musical activity at the University or within the local community. This could include membership of ensembles and music societies within the University or in the wider local community. We are seeking nominees who are a positive ambassador for music.
Nominations are invited from any member of the University and local community, including staff, students and local community members.
The winner of this prestigious award will receive a monetary prize of £150 and will be presented with their award on stage by Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell at the Ben Pedley Memorial Concert on Saturday 10 March.

Remembrance Festival and Ben Pedley Memorial Concert: singers and musicians wanted
On a related note, we are looking for singers and musicians to perform at the Remembrance Festival and Ben Pedley Memorial Concert.
As part of Music at Reading’s new programme of events, the Remembrance Festival will prepare musicians for their performance at the Memorial Concert. Rehearsals for the Remembrance Festival will take place over Saturday 10 and Saturday 24 February, with the ensemble performing together at the Ben Pedley Memorial Concert on Saturday 10 March.
Instrumentalists will join Festival Sinfonia, and singers will join Festival Voices to rehearse Karl Jenkins’s The Armed Man. The performance will take place in the Great Hall, London Road campus, with rehearsals taking place around the London Road campus.
