LGBT Allies wanted: you could be what we need

There is still time to sign up to our popular LGBT+ Ally training this Thursday – we look forward to seeing you there! 

As part of LGBT History Month, all colleagues are invited to attend an information session on Thursday 15 February, 12:00 pm – 1:30 pm (lunch will be provided). The session – hosted by the Vice-Chancellor and representatives from RUSU and the LGBT Plus network – will explain the purpose of LGBT allies, and the important role they play in our LGBT community. 

And if you like what you hear, you can sign up to the Ally programme there and then!   

What is an Ally?

An LGBT+ Ally is “an individual who doesn’t identify as LGBT and believes that lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people should experience full equality, at home, in their communities, and in their places of work”.

Signing up as an Ally isn’t going to suddenly introduce an extra load of work – instead, Allies play their own part in cultivating an inclusive, safe and accepting workplace for all, however big or small. You can make it what you want to – the important thing is that you genuinely want to support our LGBT community in your own way.

Ally postcards and lanyard still available 

During LGBT History Month we are handing out LGBT+ Ally postcards and LGBT+ Ally lanyards from main receptions in Whiteknights House, Henley Business School, Palmer Building, RUSU, London Road and Greenlands.
