Forthcoming industrial action: an update from John Brady

Wednesday, 21 February 2018

UCU strike action update

Dear colleagues,

This note acts as a simple reminder of the actions required of you if you are participating in the forthcoming UCU strike action and action short of strike (ASOS), and a further update regarding the maintenance of pension contributions.

The key information you require is contained within the most recent staff portal article.

I have just received a further notification indicating that there is no longer a need to provide advance notice of your agreement to maintain normal pension contributions during any period of industrial action. A note stating your agreement along with your first declaration of participation in strike action or ASOS will now be sufficient. As per my previous notices, to do so you need simply e-mail me at j.j.brady@reading.ac.uk. Thank you to those colleagues who have already provided their agreement; this will be actioned in accordance with your wishes.

A small number of colleagues have let me know that they may have difficulty declaring their participation within the required 24 hours following each period of action. I will of course be flexible about this where there are mitigating circumstances, so please do let me know if you anticipate any difficulty.

If you have any questions or require any further explanation of advice received please feel free to contact me or the HR Partner for your area.

Best wishes,

John Brady
