Snow forecast: disruption possible
Friday, 02 March 2018
The Met Office has issued weather warning for snow this week, with severe weather expected to continue into the weekend.
The Reading campuses are open on Friday 2 March, but we urge staff to only come to campus if they have a safe route in and out. If you are able to work from home, this would be preferable. Please discuss this with your line manager.
If you are travelling, please ensure that you have both a safe route to work but also home again later today. Please use public transport wherever possible. If you are on site, try to leave as soon as it is no longer essential that you are here. Staged departures will also help with traffic flows.
If you have classes scheduled, please make sure you email your students directly at the earliest opportunity so that they are aware of any cancelled classes. You can do this through Blackboard and instructions are available online.
Please also check your calendars for meetings and other plans, and notify those expecting you that you will not be on campus.

Due to the increased demand on our VPN services, you may experience difficulty connecting remotely. While our IT team are working to resolve this issue, they advise that you only connect to the VPN when you need to use it. Disconnecting from the VPN when you have finished will enable other colleagues to use the service.
Please check the staff portal for the latest advice and information.
Visit Day and student interviews
The Visit Day and prospective student interviews scheduled for Saturday 3 March have been cancelled. We do not wish to compromise the safety of our visitors and our staff in travelling to the campus in such adverse weather conditions by proceeding with these events. Information will be made available through the University’s homepage, and attendees are being notified today.
Should staff have any concerns or need any more information about the cancellation, please contact Beth Reed or Vicky Baldwin.
