The Museum of English Rural Life (MERL) invites you to a lively evening of cocktails, live music, activities and talks on the theme of soil and growing!
Soil is something of a hidden and underappreciated treasure. As part of British Science Week, DIG IT! A MERL Late, invites you to unearth the truth of soil and learn about the small steps we can take to protect our environment (something that soil can play a significant part in).
MERL’s amazing research will take you on a journey spanning the past, present and future:
- Investigate the importance of soil in the fight against climate change
- Find out if we can make healthy soil for Life on Mars
- Discover the ABC of soil with the Soil Security Programme
- Get your hands dirty making a biodegradable pots and planting seeds
- Immerse yourself in object handling & archive displays
- Hear about the MERL Community Growing Spaces
- Dance at the ‘soil & growing’ Silent Disco
- Indulge in some chocolatey soil sensations
