Section 28: A Poisonous Law and Legacy

Tuesday, 01 May 2018

Peter Tatchell

LGBT+ and human rights activist, Peter Tatchell.

Please join us on Thursday 24 May for the 2018 Wolfenden Lecture, which will this year explore the controversial Section 28 law.

Internationally renowned LGBT+ and human rights activist Peter Tatchell will present a special lecture on “Section 28: A Poisonous Law and Legacy”, coinciding with the 30th anniversary of the enactment of Section 28 in English, Welsh and Scottish law.

The amendment of the Act stated that a local authority “shall not intentionally promote homosexuality or publish material with the intention of promoting homosexuality” or “promote the teaching in any maintained school of the acceptability of homosexuality as a pretended family relationship.”
