Change to cashless payments at outlets across campus

Wednesday, 02 May 2018

Cashless payments on campus

All outlets operated by catering, with the exception of Dol.cHe vita and Eat at the Square, have now switched to cashless payments. This also includes the ICMA café and Post Room in Whiteknights House.

The use of cash has been declining rapidly across our outlets as students and staff prefer to use their Campus Card, contactless, chip and pin, or Android/Apple pay. Recently, cash payments have accounted for an average of just 7% of our total transactions, making it costly to maintain. Since switching to cashless there has been a reduction in queues at till points and we have received positive feedback.

All cashless venues accept international Visa/MasterCard credit and debit cards, as well as American Express. Students and staff can use Paypal, as well as credit/debit cards to top up their Campus Card and use this to purchase items across our outlets.

From 6 August 2018, three additional venues will switch to cashless as follows:

  • Dol.cHe Vita
  • Eat at the Square
  • Library

There are still a number of venues on campus that accept cash, including the Co-op and the cafes and shops in RUSU.
