University shield

The University is inviting applications for the post of Research Dean (Prosperity and Resilience).

This is a key leadership role with direct responsibility of one of our key research themes. You will work with the Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation) and be a part of the University Research Committee – along with the other Research Deans and the Dean of Postgraduate studies.

Prosperity and Resilience is the largest of the five research themes, in terms of staff (ca. 190 researchers) and research divisions (11 research divisions). Key recent projects to strengthen the research of the theme have included the establishment of a new cross-school Research Division for Global Development, the development of a behavioural and experimental social science lab and the Defence Partnership Programme. The Research Dean for Prosperity and Resilience will be expected to build on these projects to further strengthen the quality, reach, and visibility of its research.

Candidates are expected to have leadership and managerial experience within the University of Reading or elsewhere, a track record of research achievement and an active research agenda.

This is a full-time role with 0.2FTE allowance for personal research, although part-time appointments will be considered.

The appointment will be made for a period of three years from 1 August 2018 (or as soon as possible thereafter) to 31 July 2021.

If you are interested in the role, please see the Job Specification.

The closing date for applications is 8 June 2018.
