Creative & Print Studio wins Best In-House Design award
Friday, 15 June 2018
A marketing campaign developed around the University’s research has won the Best In-House Design award from the Association of Creative & Print Managers in Education (ACPME).
Designed by the Creative & Print Studio, the campaign was based on the University’s research in Chemistry, Geography and Architecture and Biological Sciences.
It beat competition from five other Higher and Further Education institutions to win the award.
The judging panel said: “The University of Reading has produced course collateral and material that is simply breath-taking; every aspect of their submissions was a carefully thought-out and beautifully designed work that was visually rich.
“Their sensitive and considered use of photography, design elements and imaginative pagination would look at home on the coffee tables of the most prestigious design agencies and were difficult to stop looking at.”
ACPME is a network of creative and print managers from the UK Higher and Further Education sectors – working to promote best practice and value in their area.
This is the first time the University had put forward an entry for ACPME’s annual awards.
The brand story-telling campaign adopted a unique approach to marketing the University to prospective students. Using stories based around academics’ research, our brochures took a journalistic approach to illustrate the far-reaching benefits of studying for an undergraduate degree at Reading.
The first brochure was produced in June 2017, with the material and bold imagery from it also featuring on hoardings and lamppost banners around the University.
The team are currently working on several more versions.
