NUIST students achieve degree success in 2018 results

Congratulations to our students from NUIST!
When it comes to degree results, we’re immensely proud of the achievements of all our students.
Along with the accomplishments of our home and international students, we continue to be impressed with the performance of students from partnering universities – in many ways, the successes of these students reflect the strengthening partnerships we hold with key global institutions.
For instance, the 2018 degree results of final year transfer students from the Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology (NUIST) provide further evidence of the successful partnership between Reading and NUIST.
The graduating cohort of NUIST students joined the University in September 2017 for their final year of undergraduate degree study. 85% of our NUIST students in the Department of Chemistry achieved either a first or a 2.1 degree, with 84% of NUIST students matching this in the Department of Economics. Across the entire NUIST cohort, no one will graduate with less than a 2.2.

“This is an outstanding achievement by students who have been in the UK for less than a year and is a testament not only to their hard work and dedication but also that of our multinational, transnational team of academic and professional staff based at and travelling between Nanjing and Reading.
“The relationship between NUIST and Reading is incredibly important to both institutions. We look forward to the growth of the NUIST-Reading Academy by adding new disciplines but also by growing the scope of the Academy to include postgraduate and research initiatives.”
In September, the University will welcome its first cohort from our joint institute in China, the NUIST-Reading Academy, with around 90 students coming to Reading for the final year of their undergraduate degree.
September will also see a new phase in our partnership with NUIST, as those entering the Academy will be registered as University of Reading students upon enrolment. It is expected that up to 300 students will be recruited across six programmes: BSc Applied Chemistry, BSc International Economics and Trade, BSc Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, BSc Environmental Engineering, BSc Atmospheric Sciences and BA Law.
