Study Smart returns for 2018-19 new starters
Tuesday, 28 August 2018
Study Smart, our online transitions course for new Part 1 undergraduates, returns this year after launching successfully for 2017-18 new starters.
The course for our 2018-19 cohort launches today (Tuesday 28 August), and eligible students have received an email from their Heads of School inviting them to enrol. It has been designed to help ease the transition into higher education and can be used as a helpful resource during the first year of study. Study Advisers and student mentors are looking forward to answering questions about studying at university and facilitating the popular discussion boards.
Following the launch of the course, Study Advice – the team behind the course – aim to build on last year’s successes. For example, 45% of students completing the course said their understanding of what was expected at university-level study was “very good” after taking part.
Staff endorsements have proved especially important to maximise student engagement. Encouraging your students and tutees to enrol on Study Smart (even if they don’t complete it immediately) means they will benefit from having access to the resources throughout the whole of their first year.
Further information on Study Smart is available on our Study Smart Tutor’s Guide. Alternatively, please email studyadvice@reading.ac.uk.
Study Advice will demo the student view of Study Smart in a hands-on session in September – date and booking details to come via CQSD nearer the time.
