Welcome Week 2018: 24 - 28 September
Thursday, 06 September 2018
The University and Students' Union have organised over 100 events and activities to welcome new students to campus later this month.
These include School and Department welcome activities, campus and local area tours, fairs, and other social events, including a Welcome Carnival with free fairground rides, live music and a food market.
In addition to these, there are targeted events for international, Study Abroad, postgraduate, mature and commuter students, as well as a number of non-alcohol focused events.
Events continue into the first week of term, with practical ‘How to' events on cooking and doing laundry, a day trip to London, and JobFest (formerly Reading Experience Day) where students can explore the many development opportunities on offer.
On arrival, all new students will receive a copy of the Welcome Guide and an Event Guide for the week. International students will also receive a copy of the new International Student Guide.
If you see anyone looking lost or confused during Welcome Week, please try to help or direct them to the Support Centre Information Point in the Palmer building (available every day 09:00 - 17:00).
Information for students about Welcome Week and preparing to start university is available at reading.ac.uk/welcome. A short guide to Welcome Week has also been compiled for staff.
