Module selection for new students
Friday, 07 September 2018
On Tuesday 25 September, an email will go out to Part 1 undergraduate and postgraduate taught student prompting them to select their modules for the coming academic year on the RISIS portal.
The deadlines for selecting modules online are:
- Thursday 27 September at 23:59 for Part 1 undergraduate students.
- Friday 5 October at 17:00 for postgraduate taught (Master's) students.
- Friday 19 October for part-time and flexible modular students. These students should refer to the information sent by Programme Directors/Support Centres and email moduleselection@reading.ac.uk with their choices.
Students must submit their preferred module choices on the RISIS portal before the deadlines outlined above.
If you are a Programme Director, Module Convenor or Academic Tutor, your guidance and advice extremely important to students. We greatly appreciate any assistance (such as helping students to understand the content of modules and appropriate pathways) that you are able to offer to students during this time.
New for 2018/19
Module Selection Help
Module Selection Help replaces Module Surgery this year and will run in locations across campus during Welcome Week and weeks 1 - 3. Dates, times and locations are available on the student-facing Essentials webpages.
Help with module selection is also available to students online by submitting a question on RISIS (via the ‘Ask a question' button) or by emailing moduleselection@reading.ac.uk
Students should attend Module Selection Help if they have a clash, want to change the selections they have submitted, or if they have missed the deadline. Module Selection Help is not a place to discuss the content of modules - students should do this at the Academic Success Fair during Welcome Week or in other discussions with academic staff.
Module selection and student/staff roles
We have created two diagrams which set out the module selection process and what happens at each stage, so that students and staff are familiar with how it works and their roles within it.
