Big Band Musicians with instruments

Music at Reading invites staff, students, alumni and community members to join the University of Reading Big Band.

The University of Reading Big Band is the flagship jazz and swing ensemble for Music at Reading. This is an auditioned group of around 20 performers playing a range of jazz, swing, blues and Latin. The group rehearse weekly, and perform at a range of venues on campus, around Reading and beyond, playing gigs for entertainment and also dancing. The Big Band aspires to be a highly skilled, polished and sophisticated performing ensemble.

The band welcomes alto/tenor/baritone saxophones (flute or clarinet doubling is useful but not essential), trumpet, trombone, drums, guitar, bass guitar, piano and vocals.

Open Rehearsals

Big Band will be holding an open rehearsal during the first week of the Autumn term, 18.30-20.30 on Monday 1 October.

Big Band Auditions
